COMMUNICAT1ONS (CS)
The Communications Subsystem is made up of redundant S-band transceivers
and power amplifiers, redundant VHF transceivers, and signal processing
equipment with associated antenna systems. These equipments provide the
following capabilities:
- S-band for transmission of PCM telemetry, TV, voice, emergency key
and range data between LM and earth;
- VHF for linking LM and Command Module, and the LM and astronaut on
the lunar surface;
- VHF telemetry capability from LM to Command Module on the far side
of the moon;
- EVA (Extravehicular Astronaut) link to earth via VHF/Sband relay.
