College Point Seaplane Base, Queens
                 1925 – 1957
The College Point Seaplane Base on Flushing Bay was developed in the mid 1920’s as the ‘flying field’ for the newly formed EDO Float Company. From the 1920’s through the 1950’s, EDO was the world’s largest manufacturer of seaplane and amphibian floats, thus the seaplane base was usually quite busy. The base had excellent seaplane facilities for it’s day, including two hangars, ramps, docks, moorings, fuel and a two mile unobstructed takeoff area.
